I've found my way out
First off, I don't go to the gym ...it's a 4min walk down the road and is free of course but I (previously) was too lazy . Anyway, between k9 chic and other things, I have discovered a new found motivation I haven't seen in myself in a long, long time. I finally got around to buying some workout cloths this past week instead of having to use standard Army issue....Some arrogant Sergeant made a degrading comment towards me this evening which pissed me off...hurtful and pissed @ the same time. I was restless and couldn't sit around so - for the first time ever - I decided to go running on my own, w/o being forced too
Ran a 2 mile course and tied my fastest time ever of 12:36...holy shiznit I was dieing , moanign and groaning... but it felt so good! I was no longer pissed off, I definately FELT like sitting on my arse after that and I had boosted my self confidence a tremendous amount just by doing that one run.
As my title proclaims, I've found my way out. Now I understand how people can become addicted to exercise. You not only feel MUCH better about yourself afterwards for improving your body but it is definately a stress reliever. I already know I will have the highest PT score in my platoon (30 people) on this upcomgin PT test next week...in 6 months when we have another test, I want the highest in the company. If only I can run both of the 2 miles like I run my one mile (5:30), I'd be set.
Soon my roommate and I are going to start working out together. He alread does but I was too lazy too ...he's a pretty buff guy so I figure if I do what he does, I'm good to go. Also going to be working out with k9 chic because she needs to work on her situps and run time which I r0x0r at (I'm such a nice guy) *wink, wink*
What about you other guys? Who else does pretty intense physical routines? I know you do Martoch (do I get a cookie for mentioning your name specifically )....what is your weekly/daily routine?

Only click the attachment if you want to see me with my shirt off...I didn't want to hotlink it and hear "waah waah waah, why did you post that up"! I hate guys like that, I NEVER make anyone feel bad about not working out...it's a choice I make, but I don't force it on anyone. Boy if that arrogant SOB was here...he'd get an @ss-whoopin' Martoch style!
I lift weights 5 nights a week, 1 muscle a night (abs all 5 nights)...don't believe those guys who tell you have HAVE to work 2 body parts at a time. blah blah blah...
You need protein buddy, at least 1 gram per pound of your body weight.
As a matter of fact, here's a great link to get you started: http://www.maxsportsmag.com/fatloss/issue43/43fl1.htm
If you have any specific questions, fire away...
BTW, I'm proud of you Wart...the beginning is the worst part, get through that and you're good to go!
My best 3-mile time is 17:26...that was 20 lbs ago, I'm between 195-200lbs right now, mostly muscle.
*FLEX*
BTW, I'm working chest as we speak...I don't lift heavy either, I get just as big as my 400+ benchpressing partners.

I used to exercise..might as well been at gunpoint.....All we did was run in the Army...hated it. Run run run. Run in platoon, run in company, run in Brigade ....well, okay...pretend you are running in Brigade ( you try to get 1000 people to run without it turning into a giant human accordian! ).
I don't run no more! My best PT time was 15:35 in the 2 mile. Never could do better. I could run all day long, but not fast.
Well, Warty ol boy...methinks you've just become a PT freak. You caught that bug...next thing you know, you'll be running with a full Ruck and training for Ranger School.

We do Company and Batallion runs every month or so...9 min mile Airborne school pace *yawns*
Martoch - I'll open your pic later...my roommate is here right now and I don't want him to think I'm- yeah
Yup, I think I have caught it....people always said that in certain bases, such as Korea, you're either a PT stud or drink all the time (some both). Well, I don't drink so that's out of the question ...This area is a great place to ruck...not ruck march, ruck run ...k9 chic does that too. Eight mile round trip is to the Washington Monument, add another mile or so and you reach the Capitol steps.

I understand Wart, you don't want him to know the truth... |

WOW...10-11 min???
Honestly Martoch, you're a pretty high speed guy for USAF...they roll through the gate here all the time and none are ever physically built. Quote: |

| shh....sixf00t4, DPA and I already decided to go gay because it's too much effort to find a proper female specimen. We're going to have one big out of the closet party someday - you're more than welcome to come (you too brandon!).
*wonders how it got to this topic*
Thanks for the advice man,

I do right much weightlifting. But for years I let myself "slide"..so I was plain old fat......you 20 year olds, lol..you make me chuckle....Im 36, I remember being 20, then 23, then 27 etc etc....stuff changes, you HAVE NO CLUE what you have till its starts to slide...and I am specifically talking about a nice in shape bod. The fat reallllllllyyyyyyyy starts to accumulate after a while.
I remember being 21, nearing the end of my USAf stint...I specifically remember the first time I looked in the mirror and saw a tiny "love handle"...I almost flipped, lol. But, I let it slide....mid to late twenties I got way too big.
Anyway, when you lift weights you want to gain size as long as its muscle...so sometimes you sort of "kid" yourself when you are fat AND lifting, lol, that its mostly muscle..of course you dont want to take your shirt off in public either, lol.
Soooooooooo....quote----> "Some arrogant Sergeant made a degrading comment towards me this evening which pissed me off...hurtful and pissed @ the same time."
hehe..same thing happened to me earlier this year....bt a few people....one lady in particular..she's way fat...she made some comment to me about me getting fat, lol....I was in the midst of some serious weightlifting, being quite diligent about it...so I was up to about 235lbs....5'9". I was a little stung by the comment but I couldnt really deny it....of course, being a little wonded I asked her had she looked in the mirror lately.
Anyway, flash forward to now....Ive lost 40 lbs, lol..and right now as of today I am weighing 195...my bodyfat percentage before was around , oh, say 24% easily, maybe more, maybe even 28%....I just got it checked today and it is 14%..which is classified as "lean", lol....but I still got lotsa fat to lose.
My shoulders have been killer sore for a while so I havent really lifted weights any lately, so I have lost some muscle in the process of the weight loss....also lost about 6 inches from my waist.
I encourage anyone who is "letting themselves slide" to NOT let themselves...DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR..get it under control....you CAN control yourself...its just habit forming, thats all, form good habits....seriously ask yourself.."what do I want to look like in 5 years, in 10" or "at 30, at 40"
Also, if you have blown up some..its NOT impossible to lose the weight again, millions of peeps do it..it just takes patience mostly...set yourself for several months of semi diligence. (I still eat fried chicken daily, lol)
I took some pics last year and hated em all, cuz I was fat....I just ordered a new Digital camera, will be here in a week or so....maybe Ill post some pics up.
If a 36 yr old can tighten it up....anyone can. Its amazing, in my twenties I was so negative I had a sad outlook on life, thought everything was impossible etc etc..now its so different, I feellike anything is possible, it only is a matter of doing it.

Yep, slow as hell!
I agree with you 100%, most AF people are way out of shape...it's embarrassing to look at them and think that they're representing the US Military.
I'm self-motivated, most of the time I work out on my own...it helps to have a partner, but I'm so used to lifting at home that I don't even ask anybody to work out with me.
"You're crazy man...I like you, but you're crazy!"
Pop quiz: Who said that?
JP, good for you buddy! I wish more guys had your mindset...I've got my workout gloves on right now, so I'm spending more time backspacing/deleting than typing.
