Doctors Remove Feeding Tube Keeping Woman Alive

http://www.wftv.com/news/2553726/detail.html
I can't tell you how mad as hell I am at this outrageous, inhumane, unforgivable, murderous act . This leaves the door wide open to get rid of anybody that is less than perfect. As I recall.Adolf Hitler did the same thing to rid his society of retarded, mentally Ill people and others that weren't the perfect specimen.Way to go America.Lower the notch one more.

Merciful euthanasia=Hitler?? Oh, come now.

If I were in this woman's condition (vaguely conscious, lying in a hospital bed, cannot communicate, being fed thru a TUBE, for Heaven's sake...) I believe my response would be...

LEMME OUTTA HERE!! Get that tube outta me, just give me lots of ice cream and Heroin, and leave me alone, I'm trying to die here!!

And if I find out you guys have allowed attorneys to make their usual big, expensive brouhaha over this, I will come back from the dead and make your life a living hell!

Of course, that's just...IMO...

If the article mentions a legal document made by the woman before the disability,I missed it. Just the husband's word. My mother lingered for days before her passing. Life support was used until the end, but I'm sure she would have preferred otherwise. I've taken legal steps to make my wishes known. I think I've "been there done that". Don't be so fast to judge them.

That is probably one of the silliest statements invoking the name of Adolf Hilter I have ever seen.

I KNEW Terminal23 would be the one to post such tripe.

Have ever had someone you love be in that state? I have. My younger sister suffered in a worse state for twelve years. She had a particularly bad epileptic seizure that left her entire brain, except for the brain stem, dead. She had no CAT scan activity ever. When she was first brought into the hospital, she was clinically dead. The emergency room doctors used the paddles to get her heart going again and then she was on life support for months. In hindsight, it was the wrong thing for them to do. My parents lost their little daughter that day, and I lost a baby sister. Her body continued on for TWELVE years and my poor parents spent a part of every single stinkin' day by her side. FOR TWELVE YEARS. Do you have ANY comprehension what that's like? No vacations, no hope of recovery, never a single response to their presence. She finally died of natural causes. My parents thought about withholding food also, just to release her from her prison. But they decided against it for many reasons; one of which was the horrible thought of being part of a circus like this case. Because holier-than-thou know-it-alls like you will march around outside the hospital making a scene and calling the people who have to suffer with this nightmare the most despicable things.

Until you've been in this man's position, seeing the woman he loves suffer like this for more than a decade, you haven't got a freaking clue what you're talking about. So take your holier than everyone attitude and stick it.

Oh, M_Six, there you go, soft-pedaling the issue. Why don't you just say it how you really feel it?

Seriously though, I cannot begin to imagine what such an ordeal must be like. I hereby thank Heaven that I've never been there! My sincere condolences.

fed through the tube that sticks in me
just like a wartime novelty
tied to machines that make me be
cut this life off from me

hold my breath as I wish for death
oh please God, wake me

now the world is gone I'm just one
oh God, help me hold my breath as I wish for death

Its a horrible thing to see.. years of pain, no life to speak of.
Sometimes its best just to let them go

Uncle, m-six...sorry to hear about the women who once were close to you...
my grandfather (a US Army vet of WW2) died recently (about 7 years ago, still recent for me) and the decision was made not to put him on life support, except for oxygen tube for easier breathing. he had made that decision days earlier with my father and one of my father's brothers.
my grandfather waited for all the family to be at his side (he was unconsious) and passed away, a strong man whom I admired very much.
I actually left the room before he died...I wanted my last memory of him to be the strong gentle man I loved, alive and sleeping with the family gathered around.
if a humane ending can be found, one that all parties, or responsible parties acting in the best interests of the afflicted, I believe pulling life support is justified. what better way to go than in sleep, in a warm bed, with family gathered around, your best wishes honored.
so many people die on street corners, behind the wheel of a car, in wartime, in peacetime accidents; for my grandfather to die surrounded by his weeping family; I was comforted by the knowledge that the decision made was best for him.
as for this woman...if it was deemed in her best interest to live on her own, without the aid of a feeding tube, I believe the decison made was a right one.

Amen, StealthyV.

Again I say, Amen.
