Charmler...

It seems Charmler left TechIMO in a not so charming mood.
Anyone know what gives? Check it out, he or she went back
and deleted the content of most of their posts. Talk about
stomping your feet and throwing a tantrum. Geeez.

I think maybe our posts should be locked from editing,
by anyone except the mods/admin, after one weeks time.
To have someone go and delete all the content of their
posts from months or even years ago should be a crime.
After all, this and all message boards are a sort of historical
record of discussions that have taken place. Doesn't seem
right to allow people to go back an erase history.

(Why did I bother with this you ask? Well, you can blame whoever
bumped that old union thread. I saw Charmler's blank post in there and
got curiouser and ciuriouser. And I was bored too.)

He seemed to get really ticked off over distributed computing as I remember. When it was building I remember thinking, "Why is he getting so mad about this?"

I think your edit idea is a great one Out, but I doubt Scott would have the time for it.... I don't know, perhaps if there was a vbullitin tweak for it.

But on the other hand Scott is a very even and fair guy, and if someone wanted their account deleted he would probably do it for them, but he has only deleted a couple that I remember.

I agree with you Out about continuity of the board.
I think it's very important.

well sometimes i see spelling errors in my old posts and then i edit them but not often because: post created one year ago and last edit today

A bit bizarre if you ask me. Almost looks like random deletion of posts. Do a search on his username and you'll see what I mean. At first I though he deleted only Community posts, then saw that he deleted some tech and DC posts as well, but left others. I wonder how many out of all his 347 posts (must've had news or gallery posts as well, as he had 443 under his username) he deleted altogheter? Anyone bored enough to copunt them all?

No real pattern seems immediately obvious (unless he signed them all the same way or something).

Weird. Doesn't really look like someone cleaning up something, though. Maybe OuT's thoughts oif a tantrum are correct.

I think thread continuity is important, to a point. We should maintain the right to edit our postsat any time, as they are sort of our creations, even though we give TIMO some rigthts to them, we should still maintain sonme rights to them.

And we can get in trouble if we don't edit them sometimes. Remember draboo's explanation of his username? He quickly edited that when RubyRed became a member here!
