I've never gone to one that costs to get in. Well excpet for a little store thing called wild cats that is basicly a constant LAN party. They provided the PC's and games for you though. Usually LAN parties are just with friends. Those are a blast! It tottaly depends. Even the best parties can go bad sometimes.

LAN parties are fun, you get to meet a lot of new people that like the same games and live near you. Just make sure you follow their rules, a lot of LAN runners really don't like if they say don't smoke and find a guy smoking, stuff like that.
Does this LAN have a website?

And I need to have a LAN card installed to play at the party right?

Yep, if you don't have a network card installed yet, ya better go get one and slap it in.

Absolute worst part of a LAN party is leaving. Not because you cant bear to be without it, but because you need to lug that huge monitor and case back to the car. The second worse part is disconnecting everything you have at home to pack it up so you can go there...I must have 20 cables coming out of the back of my computer.
And I've only been to private ones, but the last one i went too was about 14 people...pretty good for a house thing.
And...Dont bring speakers...bring headphones.
And sleep alot the night before...You dont want to pass out, or get drowsy-fragged.
