iso files often are exact copies of program CD's that you can burn into blank one. excuse me cuz i don't know the how-to's but at least you got the idea

An ISO is an image file. But you should post this in the Applications/OS sections for wider readership and wider response.

What exactly do you want to do with an ISO file?

ISO in itself just stands for International Organization for Standardization. In this case it probably refers to an ISO9660 compliant file system as commonly found on CDROM disks.

someone sent me an ISO file and I don't know how to open it.

Use winISO. Do a google search to find the site.

Man, you gotta make some effort.

Download it and use it to open/extract the contents from te ISOimage.

I like making ISOs of games I play and putting em on my HDD. Then I mount it with a virtual drive so I can play it Via the HDD.. I find it speeds up load times by far for the games that I still play that depend on the CD-rom for content, but those are becoming few and far between.
