In the beginning..
Our first new house is under construction.....!
Over the holidays we cleared off part of the wooded lot (Monday and Tuesday..got tired....hired a crew to do the rest on Thursday ).. dug a big hole where the house is going and layed out the foundation. Digging out the footers out today.......hopefully, by July, I will have it finished.....did I mention I am doing the majority of the work???...
We hope to close on the land the end of this week....I am a little leary about doing all of this work on land we don't technially own yet...

I just bought 180 acres of land and before we closed I had a road already dug from one sid of it to the other.
If you aren't able to close we are selling 10 acre tracks in King, NC (just North of Winston Salem).

The only thing is, working at a desk for a living, you soon find out how bad you are out of shape! |

Looks awesome so far. Just a little sincere advice:
Don't allow any interior posts, door jambs, trimmers, etc. even on non-bearing interior walls to rest upon the wood floor without solid blocking below that spans between joists or beams.
I see this all the time on wood floored houses, and it is a sure bet to sag there later.
Interior sole plates spread the load across the floor (a bit...they're only 2x's), so if you must cut them out locally for plumbing, etc, be sure to block solid under the adjacent studs.
Watch carefully at what plumbers, electricians, hvac guys etc. cut out of the structure, and what structures they hang things from. These guys have no concept of structure.
I see them cut important posts, plates, ties, etc, all the time, for stuff as seemingly simple as mounting a clock in the wall.

As for the rest, the wife's father is doing the electrical (almost finished), HVAC guys did a good job, I put a zoned system in. I framed it with 2x6's, and the floor joists could hold up a tank
I just put up the structured media center in the other day...lotso room in the panel I put the security sensors in over the weekend, the CAT5E, coax and phone lines go in as soon as the electrical is done...gotta keep my clearances...
