Yankees players may face charges in fight
Boston.com is reporting that two Boston police officers who witnessed the fight in the Yankees bullpen intend to file charges against the Yankees players. Quote: |
Lt. Kelly McCormick of Area B-3 forwarded witness information to Det. Dunn and P.O. Pankievich regarding their eyewitness account of the incident where they stated they observed member(s) of the NY Yankees baseball team initiate an unprovoked attack upon the victim. Summonses to be sought in Roxbury District Court for assault and battery on both Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia of the Yankees baseball organization.
| Well what do you know. I'd say the Fox Sports announcers owe this guy an apology. They were calling him every name in the book on national TV.
I was quick to blame him, too. Mea culpa.

I am sure the "witnesses" are being completely honest.
Not to get back into, because I am sick of talking about it, it was wrong on both sides.
Hope this rain didn't cool the jets....hehe
Ish definitely got out of control yesterday, though.
Looking foward to a Yankee win even more now.

You don't have to physical to be the initiator of a confrontation. That guy ,obviuosly had a BIG mouth and got exactly what he deserved. If the outfielder had to jump the fence, whatever was said had to carry way past the bullpen boarders and , I'm sure was quite derogatory. Maybe he'll come down to New York and shoot his mouth in front of the fans, If he has the nads......

| How would you know that? The guy is also a special needs educator. I'm sure that makes him a loud-mouthed bully, right?

Funny how the same people that think slamming an elderly man to the ground, take offense to the bullpen incident which was more evenly matched.
If it was the Yankee player who threw first and started that BS, then I guess they should just call it even and get on with the series.

| I don't think that way at all and have said so. Pedro could definitely have handled that better. But Zimmer did physically attack Pedro.
However, there is no excuse for a professional athlete attacking a park employee no matter what he was saying. There are other avenues to use to solve such problems. And it was hardly "evenly matched".
And my reply to pickel was in response to his assumption that the groundskeeper has a big mouth. He doesn't know that for a fact, and neither do I. But you don't normally find arrogant, obnoxious people working with special needs kids.

Most redsox fans have condemned what the bullpen did and support Pedro stossing around a 70 year guy.
Hi pot, I'm kettle.
Who ever would have thought a "Man of God" who molest children? Or who would have thought nurses were serial killers?
My point is that someones day job has nothing to do with it.
How was it not evenly matched in the bullpen?....That RED SOX EMPLOYEE taunting players in the YANKEES bullpen looked pretty built to me. Isn't there any type of security in those bullpens? Especially for this type of series? What was he doing in the Yankees bullpen anyway? Was he just doing his job and grooming the dirt in there? Also Garcia must either have eyes in the back of his head or wasn't paying attention to the game, because supposedly the employee was only "pumping hi fists"
Thing is, nobody really knows what when on in there. All we can do is choose which news article we read and assume the media isn't falsly reporting anything

I agree that no one should be jumping to conclusions. That was my problem with pickel's post. He's assuming the guy deserved it. And I call it unfair because it was at least two on one if not worse.
Glad to see Zimmer stand up for his actions. And like the Red Sox owner said, I'd like to see the same action from the Boston crew.
BTW, not everyone in Boston is blaming the Yankees. Story
I agree with this guy. The initial incident was started by Martinez who came into this game with an attitude. I commented on his attitude long before the 4th inning fiasco. http://www.techimo.com/forum/showthr...ighlight=Pedro

All things considered, the "real" losers in all of this was "concessions."
Cut off beer sales in the 4th. inning. Like to know the cost of that.
You can bet the fans will be stocking up on brewski in the early innings tonight. Never know when you need one to toss.
Bottom line is that the DH has done away with symmetry. Oldest rule in baseball is "What goes around, comes around." The DH has done away with that.
