Ebay's been good to me, though it's been months since I actually sold anything. For a while I was selling things for people here in town and charging a percentage of the total value. It got to be too time consuming, so I quit.
Seems like it's hard to get a good deal anymore, though. Everyone's pretty price savvy these days |

Selling stuff you'd normally throw away or pawn off for $5 at a yardsale is how you make money. My dad has sold some of his ancient audio equipment for good money...old a$$ amps and so forth.
Selling online in general can be profitable. My friend is probably going to sell his BLOWN Alpine car amp for $20 to a guy. This guy buys blown audio equip and see's if he can repair it (I don't think he can repair this one...). Anyway, $20 is better than junking it.

I sold all of my old stereo equipment on Ebay. I also sold surplus computer parts (i.e. old drives, cards, etc.) Didn't make me rich, or richer, but it cleaned up the place and turned it into cash.

It depends on what you have to sell.
I collect McFarlane football figures that run about $10 a piece at Wal Mart. Well, they often produce rare figures that can sell for $50 on up to over $1000. These sell well on eBay (the rare ones). I bought one figure for $10 and sold it for $75 (Boston Red Sox variant of Roger Clemens). Then again, if you try to sell the regular common figures, you can't even break even on eBay.
My wife sells her used paperbacks online because she gets 10 times more from eBay than she gets in trade at the used bookstores in town. ($2-$3 versus $0.25)
Find out what other people are getting for the items you are wanting to sell to see what prices you could expect to get. That's the best way to see if it is worth your time.

I never had any luck on Ebay! I had this huge box of old videos (almost all horror/gore flicks) given as a tip for a service. I looked up all the videos, and found some that couldn't be found anywhere, as well as some that were listed as worth $50-200! I got JACk for them on Ebay! Wound up taking the last half to the pawn shop and getting $1ea for them. Maybe half of what I could have got on Ebay, but about 24 hours less work.
On the plus side I watched most of them, and am now 100% more twisted than I already was prior.
