garage door opener SUCCESS

it sat upstairs of the garage for the whole summer. waiting patiently for ruby to prod me into installing it.well she prodded and i iinstallled last satruday.

it a genie brand with a screw type of drive, instead of a chain and sproket. seems pretty quiet and very smooth.

actually went off without a major hitch. i barely had enough headroom for it. i ve installed a few of them, but never had one myself. what a luxury, especially with cold weather coming, and combined with the remote starter werre planning for rubys park avenue, it should be a kinder, gentler, winter.

now if i could just get the other garage door repaired and get rid of the three motorcycles that are growing out the floor in the other half of garage....i might be able to take advantage of a snowless vehicle, also.

but i doubt it. my jeep is destined to endure the snow and wind for another winter.

wonderful job!

im scared to death of the giant springs on them, ive seen the damage those things can do, a guy in the doctors office with about 5 inches of it through the center of his hand

i like the comment about the motorcycles growing out of the floor sounds a lot like the projects in our woodshop that seem to materialize from airborne sawdust. never seem to get done, but more pop up every year

glad to hear it will be benificial for those cold winter days!

Good on you drab! I saw the maintenance guy come to repair my garage door opener...seemed like an awful lot of work just to replace a few parts, let alone install one from scratch. My hats off to ya...

I've installed 4 of them. Chain type and screw drive. I like the screw drive ones the best. It get's easier the more you do it. Then again this is from someone who does electrical work around the house and doesn't shut off the power first.

you did notice that draboo said he will be out in the cold this winter, (at least his car). I do believe that may have been the threat prior to the thing being installed, and since we dont have a dog house anymore he would have to live in the garage, (no heat). Thanks drab.

No way I'm going to attempt doing that myself.I just spent 3 hours installing a freaking ceiling fan.Man my neck hurts.I'll hire someone to do it.I just don't have the Patience to do that myself. On a scale of 1 to 10 10 being the hardest. How hard of a job is it actually?

Hey Drab, one of my Jeeping buddies works for GADCO down here. If you need parts for your door, I might be able to hook you up with some 'scratch and dent' specials.
