Gaming It's an invasion!

Of Box Elder beetles, that is.

They're annoying and messy to look at, but essentially harmless. What a pain, though. Can't wait for a good freeze.

I know how you feel those things are hatching around here as well.

It wouldn't be as bad if they actually had a purpose other than making people mad and making a mess.

Up here we call them Maple Tree Bugs and we hate them just as much. Crawling everywhere buzzing by us and I found a dead one in my fridge last year.

It seems that nothing likes to eat them ie birds, spiders, fish.

I really hate them

BoxElder bugs, Yup, we've got them too, but the real pests this year are yellow jackets and lady bugs. Visited a friends house the other day and had 5 ladybugs land on my shirt alone within a minute of getting out of the car. The problems was, that you couldn't tell if you were getting run into by lady bugs or Hornets so you were swatting at anything near you ( that's a lot of bugs when you can't tell the difference because there are just so many! )

M_Six, dish soap and water in a spray bottle does wonders for them guys.

we dont ant problems, whenever fall comes they cling to the outside of the house just like that...luckily last week we had 2 freezes, so that got rid of most of them.

Just an update; I came home yesterday and there were considerably fewer beetles visible as it was cool and rainy. There were only a few on the screen door so I decided to open it and check for mail. As soon as I opened the door, a hundred or so beetles that had crawled inside the door jamb for warmth came tumbling down all over me and scattered around the foyer. I freaked out and grabbed the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed them all up. Then I went to Walmart and bought a Shop Vac. I came home and vacuumed all of them I could see off the house. Today there's a bunch more that have crawled out of the cracks, so I'll be out vacuuming the house again.

I hate these nasty things.
