slow draining tub

I was trying to install new hardware for a bathtub/shower, but the new hardware (igot on clearance with no instructions) was not compatible. Now my tub drains extremely slowly. I know this is because I took off the lever that you push to drain the tub and when I put it back on it the problem started. There is no clog. What can I do?

sounds like the lever ( waste and overflow )that "opens " the drain when you puch it down is out of ajustment .

remove the 2 screws and pull it all the way out . there should be a threaded rod that you turn to lower or raise the stopper at the end . turn it a few time to raise it up and put it back and test it . if it isn't right repeat till you have it so it drians proper but also seals without leaking .

Something you might check.

The lever that you removed and put back on, usually has a seal underneath it..... it goes BEHIND the tub, and not on the face of it like you might think......... putting the seal in front will reduce the airflow, and make your tub drain slowly if other standpipes are not close by.
