NHS.....bunch of stuck up......
National Honor Society (NHS) is a group of students, above the average in GPA and service to the community. I applied for membership last year and did not make it, but was suprised by some of those who did. some did not deserve in any way or form to be there, but hey, you gotta let the sports stars in, right?
Their total attitude appauls me. In the rules it states. You may not apply for membership into NHS. Instead you are invited to fill out a survey.
Now that from the beginning kind of annoyed me, they act pretty stuck up. And its not so much the attitude of the NHS members, but the NHS advisors. They (this woman) acts like she is above everyone. This year when i went to drop off my application, she asked on one part, where is the date? I showed it to her, and she said do you want to put it on the bottom? "No" i said "its on the top where it says it should be" She replied an annoyed "ok".
It just annoys me how stuck up NHS can get some people. I would not even apply if it didnt look good on college...but yet it does...and so i do apply. I can only hope for the best i suppose...but if i do not make it in by my senior year, i will write the most inflamatory letter that they have ever recieved. I do not mean to bore you, just to express my thoughts in the open.
thank you.

Whether you're on the Honor Roll, member of MENSA, Student Body President, 4H club, etc. etc. means little at the University level, where SAT scores and college-prep courses matter most.

Always made fun of the NHS pukes...lol...most of them didn't have any "values" or "leadership" skills of anykind.
"Walk through the gauntlet of light"...lmao, my friends and I would make fun of that all the time. Part of the ceremony when they are 'inducted' is when existing members form a walkway and the new inductees 'walk through the gauntlet of light'...hahaha....crazy shiznit.
It's like the cult for intellectuals.

dont fret it. Your time would be much better spend hanging with friends, clipping your toenails, or studying for your sat's as your other post has mentioned.
I remember when I got into college, the acceptance letter said "well, we werent sure about you, but when we saw you were in NHS that put you over the top." Yeah right...heres what they(in a very simplified way) do.....look at name sex, race, GPA, SAT/ACT..... and move on to the next one.

Hm. As a member of the "Gifted" program, I'm pretty sure I'm insulted. Try stereotyping a little bit less before you open your mouth about things just because you weren't a part of them.

i was in NHS and member of the gifted program too. not all of us are as bad as you would make it seem shaw. don't knock anyone for being in NHS, or anything for that matter, just because you either can't be a part of it, or don't want to be a part of it, doesn't mean they are stuck up, and it also doesnt mean they are better than you in anyway.
schools differ anywhere you go, so i can't really say too much about how things are run, cuz i know they can suck. but the fact of the matter is, nothing in HS matters. ever watch bowling for columbine? remember matt stone's (or was it trey parker?) interview? describes it to a T.
and honestly guys, it sucks being made fun of. and nerds get it all too much.
