Mass Weapons of Destruction

Vast, Unsecure Iraqi Arms Depots Could Take Years to Dispose Of (from The New York Times, FRYYY):
Quote:
In Congressional testimony last week, Gen. John P. Abizaid, the senior American commander in the Persian Gulf region, summed up the broader problem confronting the military. "There is more ammunition in Iraq than any place I've ever been in my life," he told the Senate Appropriations Committee, "and it is all not securable." He put the amount at 650,000 tons.

He added, "I wish I could tell you that we had it all under control, but we don't."

Theo, what does FRYYY stand for? Acronym Finder doesn't know it.

Thanks

Note, the NY TImes only allows free access to one of their articles/Op Eds for a limited time (30 days?). Then, one has to buy the article. It's best to link for reference and copy the text to the post - IMO.

650,000 tons! If we sell this stuff on Ebay we can get the $87B Bush wants.

Seriously, this underscores what a waste military spending is. Nations deprive their people of a standard of living to buy this stuff and it only goes up in smoke. A relative is on the miliitary in told me that he has seen U.S. warehouses full of obsolete arms that will never be used.

We are making attempts to use what we have before restocking the warehouses. Iraq made a good place to get rid of some bullets and stuff before the expiration date

Carter, ford, are responsible for the stuff expiring.
G
George Bush I
George Bush II
Clinton

Have done their darndest to use the stuff.
