Well, today is my birthday and I got some flowers and a real nice song!
any kind of jewelry would be nice for her, check out QVC for some really beautiful stuff, watch it together then pick up the phone and order it, just an idea! The anticipation might be fun!

I agree with Gomer here, if she was your girlfriend yeah then i could understand (but still 150 would be quite alot, i would get her some cheaper stuff and then go out with her a couple of times)
Remember it's the thought that counts, ofcourse a expensive present is nice... but still she's not your girlfriend.
I would say that 30 dollars is more then enough, if not to much...
BTW the only girls that really care if you spended 30 or 150 are the type of girls that you don't want, if you buy her a really nice present for 30 bucks and she ain't happy because the price of it was to low then get the hell away from her...
If you still want to get her jewelry then get silver, silver is way cheaper then gold, but it's still very good, personally i even like silver more then gold.
Trust me spending 150 dollars on a girl that isn't your girlfriend is a bad idea, you might even put her in a uncomfortable situation.
1. Jewelry mostly is given by parents/family and the person they are seeing, your neither of those.
2. She will likely buy you a present when it's your birthday, if you spend alot then she might feel that she has to buy something expensive for you. Now before you go that she doesn't have to do that and all, well some people still will, or feel bad about it.
This isn't what you want to do, really..

Blazer, listen to your elders. Quality doesn't matter as much as you think. She'd probably be happier with a little stuffed duck on a keychain that she can take anywhere than with a four foot tall monster she has to leave in her bedroom.
Put thought into your gift, not cash.
