What a mess is right.
The story as usual does not go into enough detail as to her worthyness. It clearly states that she plead no contest to the charges. Butttttt, (here is the big but) BUT the question which remains unanswered is what is her threat to the child? Is the threat that her new husband may bash the childs head into the toilet repeatedly? If so than he should not be allowed to gain custody even after a divorce (and there appears to be not contest as to the dads ability to be a daddy).
So what did the mother fail to do to prevent the death of her previous son?
1)Was it that she did not react to the punishment in another room and a child crying?
2) Or was it that she stood next to the child as her x-husband bashed the kids head into the toilet?
If it was option 1 then perhaps further evaluation of the situation as to whether or not a reasonable person would have realized that this was a life threatening situation or not from the next room.
If option 2 then there just is no excuse for not stepping in.
The story leaves me dry on the details required to make any kind of comment on the issue.
The news sucks and never gives enough of a story for one to make up their mind completely. Each story is geared twards the writers own biases and stops as soon as they are convinced to meet their own goals. |
