'Do not call' list blocked by court

Last night(7:30PM) I was coloring with my daughters and the phone rings. The oldest one answers the phone, my answering machine that people usually hang up on, and then give to me. This lady asks for me or my wife by last name. I ask her who is calling. This goes on for probably five times and then she tells me she is from Farmers Insurance, not my company. So I proceed to tell that I allready have insurace, she asks if she can give me a quote anyway. By this time I have had enough. I proceed to tell her that she is wasting my family time and this is not acceptable.This lady gets defensive, can't remember what she said. My next reply was,"You have called me on my personal time, how about I call you on your time when I leave for work". The lady gets mad at me and hangs up the phone. The time I leave for work is 5:00 AM.

I can not think of one phones are basically private property we pay for them to be activated and to use them it would be diff if they payed us to have one.....

You need a TeleZapper. I got one and my telemarker calls dropped by 75% in one month.

I have one of those telezappers, but I still get em'.... looks like some of them have gone the old fashion route by having a "Real" person dial the phone instead of a computer automatically dialing random numbers then when you answer it transfers you over to a "real" person.

I am not sure I get what freedom of speech they are talking about. It certainly is not the freedom of speech of the people who spoke in one loud voice, "Don't call me!!!"

Freedom of speech does not include invading my house if I specify that I do not want you there. I guess that this means that the bible thumper standing at your front door yelling at you that you are going to burn in hell has a constitutional right to stand on your property and bellow through your locked door.

AFAI can see this is simply like putting a sign on your front door saying no soliciting. At the very least they should have a valid call back number so that you may speak freely at them.

I can not figure out what law the judges used to justify the judgement in favor of the telemarketing industry. No ones rights are being trampled. If anything this list is like the biggest boom to the telemarketing industry. They just eliminated 50,000,000 calls from being repeatedly wasted. Concentrating the remaining pool of likely good numbers.

I guess telemarketing is worse in USA than here. We get maybe 1 such call per month to my knowledge.

I really wouldn't want to be a telemarketer.
