Talk about weird political reasoning.
He put up nearly two million of his own dollars to
have the recall election, hoping that he'd get to replace Davis. Then he weepily withdrew when Schwarzenegger declared and blew the doors off Issa's campaign. But now he's afraid that that two strong candidates (obviously
he wasn't one) will split the Republican vote, and Bustamante will become Governor.
So: although he clearly prefers McClintock, a solid conservative, to Schwarzenegger, he wants McClintock to withdraw (although he won't say so specifically). And despite the money he spent to unseat Davis, he'd rather have Davis than Bustamante.
Explain this one to me, please.
