Darrell Issa Urges Vote Against Recall...

...if both McClintock and Schwarzenegger stay in the race.

Talk about weird political reasoning.

He put up nearly two million of his own dollars to have the recall election, hoping that he'd get to replace Davis. Then he weepily withdrew when Schwarzenegger declared and blew the doors off Issa's campaign. But now he's afraid that that two strong candidates (obviously he wasn't one) will split the Republican vote, and Bustamante will become Governor.

So: although he clearly prefers McClintock, a solid conservative, to Schwarzenegger, he wants McClintock to withdraw (although he won't say so specifically). And despite the money he spent to unseat Davis, he'd rather have Davis than Bustamante.

Explain this one to me, please.

Easy. The jackass tried to buy his way into the governor's office and lost. Now he's like a spoiled child picking up his ball and going home.

Does California even care that they are the laughing stock of the US? They keep making it worse.

Here's the problem in a nutshell:

The following bills have been signed our are about to be signed:

Free college tuition for illegal aliens
Driver's licenses for illegal aliens
Reporting of Indian Gambling political donations

If Davis or Bustamonte is still in office, no one can reverse these bills. You can expect about 20% of the 2 million illegals to vote in the elections immediatly after the bill goes into effect Jan, 2004. Nearly all of these votes are for the Democrats.

The feeling is that Davis has no electible future and may not derail court challenges and initatives against this wholesale pandering.

Issa's fear is that Mc Clintlock will play the spoiler and dilute the Schwartzenegger vote, and Cruz wins.

BTW: when we talk about illegals, let's not forget the boat loads of "invisible" Chinese coming over...They go sliding into sweat shops and prostitution and never make the news. The question is: who's colony is California going to become?

The problem is the special interests finance the candidates in the primaries and we get to choose between the two "sponsored" candidates.

And yes, it is a lot like Ross Perot and Ralph Nader. Ross hurt George senior, Ralph hurt Al Gore.

We do need a third party. There seems to be no one who gives a care about the regular dude. Arnold is centrist enough that he could have run as an Independant if he had the balls.

His reasoning is sound. The Republicans appear to have already lost (based on polling), so the recall does nothing but swap Bustmante for Davis (the most likely outcome based on current numbers). From a Republican viewpoint, what's the difference?
