U.S. Troops Fire at Italian Diplomat's Car in Iraq

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. troops opened fire on a car carrying an Italian diplomat who holds a senior position in Iraq's U.S.-led administration, killing his Iraqi interpreter, American military sources said Friday.

The U.S. military sources said Cordone's car was shot at after it repeatedly tried to overtake a U.S. convoy near Tikrit, Saddam's hometown.

Doesn't excuse what happened, but no way in hell you could pay me to be in their situation.

I'm not even gonna say what I think of these "soldiers".

Lets see....you're in a war-torn country, repeatedly try to do something, and are repeatedly warned not to do so by soldiers. Not saying that this should have happened, or that perhaps the soldiers weren't a little "over alert"....but if I were in their shoes, I can see how it would easily happen. Like it or not, the driver of the car bears some of the responsibility for his own demise.
