vass0922: Yes it's a market or
suq and it's very old. It's the smaller version of this
suq which is about 3000 years old. The market is situated where a pillared path used to lead to a Canaanite temple, which later became a temple for Romans, Greeks, Christians (a church) and today finally Muslims (a mosque called the Umayyad Mosque).
