Arnold Schwartzenegger:
Illegal Immigrant? Quote:
As a 21-year-old bodybuilder, Schwarzenegger came to the United States in 1968 on a B-1 visa, which allows visiting athletes to compete and train, but bars them from drawing a salary from an American company.
But in his 1977 autobiography, Schwarzenegger said he reached a deal with a legendary figure in the bodybuilding industry "to pay me a weekly salary in exchange for my information and being able to use photographs of me in his magazine.''
That arrangement, said a half-dozen immigration attorneys across the nation, appears to have violated the terms of his visa.

Oh.
This happens everyday across the country - why should I care MORE about 1 individual than the other thousands? *shrugs*

| daveleau, which of the following do you mean by "dirty"?
(1) It's not true.
(2) It's true, but it happened a long time ago, so it's unfair to bring it up now.
(3) Everybody does it, so it's hypocritical to hold it against Arnold.
(4) It was reported in a newspaper I don't like.
(5) Revealing negative facts about a candidate I favor is ipso facto dirty campaigning; revealing negative facts about a candidate I oppose is "setting the record straight".
Only interpretation (1) is a legitimate position; if the charge is false, it's dirty. Interpretations (2) and (3) disregard the fact that his campaign specifically targets such behavior, so it's sauce for the gander. Interpretations (4) and (5) are standard partisan stuff; though common on both sides, they carry zero weight to an unbiased observer.

Since I'm not from Caleefawneeeya, I have no opinion. Whomever those people elect as governor, they deserve.
But, Theo, would you please explain the message behind Ahnold's misspelled name? That I'm curious about.

Theophylact,
Reading the entire article with an even amount of emphasis instead of following suit with your quoted part, I see that Schwarzenegger gave a plausible excuse. It seems that neither of us is qualified to make a judgment as to the truthfulness of this article. The news media, having the same lack of qualifications, are putting up rumor after rumor (some true some not) to get their way. This is just an extension of that and it is sad that our journalism system is devoid of ethics and that our people are so blind or so unwilling to seek the truth to follow them. This goes for both sides of the coin, liberal and conservative media, although the latter is all-but-nonexistent.

There are two reasons to vote for Arnold: 1) He's not a liberal, 2) Warren Buffet. Other than those I can’t see one redeeming value he has as a candidate.

At least he had a visa in the first place! The only reason I wish I was a Californian is so I could have voted yes on prop 187. Not that it would have mattered anyway as the judge felt his personal opinion supersceded the hundreds of thousands of votes.

| What?!?!!? You can't be serious.
I was in a bookstore yesterday and I was amazed at the number of right-wing books out justifying Bush's attempts to circumvent the democratic process and blaming everthing on the democrats in general and on Clinton specifically. Ann Coulter is probably the most prominent, but there were at least three others. The conservative press is alive and well, believe me.

Look at G W Bush, he's legal and look what he's done for our country. Arnold couldn't do worse since he can't even talk the language( sarcasm, indeed) .
These politicains and corrupt media will use any means they can to demean, insult, degrade the opposition in any unfair and derogatory method to put forth there own agenda whether it be for the public's beneft or not. They don't care about our world, just their own little closed nasty self pretentiuos being. This race is showing exactly what they are and I'm sure, people are truly realizing not going to be swayed by them but to open their own eyes and see the truth for what it really is. Just like the bastards ( pardon me ) at the RIAA. All cut from the same cloth.
