come on people ... this is a MUCH more advanced processor than a Pentium 4 or AthlonXP ...

The P4 is not a 64/32 bit processor ... How about we wait until Intel DOES have one finished and out before we start throwing around complaints that AMDs cost just as much as Intels ... because it's like comparing prices between an AthlonXP and a Xeon

I hope the AMD=Apple is not happening. I think they are getting greedy.

The more I read on it, the less I mind. Heck, let them make some good dough off the suits. We can still build killer XP systems for an excellent price.

And then after the suits make AMD a good nest egg, the prices will eventually fall down to the enthusiast level, and by then us tightwads will be ready for a new beast at a bargain price...and all the while AMD will have generated enough juice to kick their engineers into hyperdrive (and hopefully give them a week or two on a sandy beach).

It could very well turn out nicely...it's time to get the CPU's back on track, as they haven't been following that rule. What was it? Aren't they supposed to double in power every ten months? Sheeeet, we're up to ~3200 on the scale...and how long ago did the 1600 premier?

I am an opportunist. I truly am. I believe that a company needs to make a healthy profit to stay in its selected business.
IMO some people are trying to soak money from this price war, and some will pay for it. Not me.
Well, I hope not.
