SWAT teams use it for crowd control, so what I'm planning on doing is making a little device that you hook intot eh phone line that will emit that exact audio frequency and then, BAM!! no more worries with tele-marketers...

Haha yeah, if I actually answer the phone and someone doesnt answer in like the first second, I hang up. Even if someone starts talking I just hang up. Next time someone calls I should mess with them though.

I was a telemarketer for awhile,so i can say from experience that the job blowz just as much as getting their calls. and as much as i hate receiving marketing calls, I do realize that they're just trying to make a living same as you or me.

and another thing, if they call you and you tell them to remove your name from their list, and the same company continues to call you can sue them for harrassment. it is a law that exists, but not many people know about it, but due to my work as a telemarketer I do know about it. so thats just a little bit of info for you all.

I wouldn't want people to make my job more difficult than it should have to be, so I don't pull dumb crap when a telemarketer calls.
That doesn't mean I signup for a lot of subscriptions, change my phone carrier once a week or spend hours upon hours participating in surveys - I just say I'm not interested and/or hang up.

I was wondering who the heck said yes to this poll! now i see!
I've had two very brief jobs in such a position. They were both fraudulent. They would not take people off the list who requested so, and the second job they went so far as to lie in our pitch. I found out what we were telling them wasn't true by calling the bank that owned the cards we were calling for. When I told the supervisor, he simply told me they were wrong, he was right, and continued to coach people the fraud pitch.
I quit three days later after getting reamed over and over for "doing it wrong". I wasn't making any "sales" with the correct information anyway...
Here's the low down on what I'm talking about: We "sold" balance transfers to a certain credit card/bank's customers. We would offer these transfers, either as an automated payment to the receiving bank or as a cashable check to the credit card holder. We would tell them that this balance would remain at x% (some as low as 1.9), but the other part of their balance could not be paid off until the balance transfer was paid off. Now, this left a balance with interest accruing like a snowball going downhill in a cartoon. The lie we were told to tell them was they could send in two checks with their credit card payment and pay off some of each balance so long as the balance transfer was the larger payment and that larger payment was at least the minimum payment due. Well, the bank said "NO NO NO", the previous balance could not be reduced by ANY means until the low interest balance transfer was GONE.
A couple months later one of my cousins got a job there and I asked her if they were still doing things that way, she said she didn't think so...but she wasn't sure because she was on a different account.
And then there was how people would mark numbers as having been "busy/no answer" when people would get irate, which resulted in a return call in 15 minutes. I received a lot of these return calls, some having been the 3rd or 4th call that evening.
But these do not call lists don't cover the solicitors like I was, as the banks and the telephone companies are two of the exceptions.
