mood swings

ive been having some real trouble with mood swings lately. one minute i will feel happy and in control. the next minute, for no real reason i will feel depressed, paranoid, hopeless, and like i have no idea what is going on. theres been a lot going on in my life lately to worry about such as women, friends, college, money issues, etc. is there anything i can do to stop these stupid mood swings?

maybe talk to one of the consolers on your campus?

Maybe your RA can help you sort some things out.

Its not really something you can just stop.
1. Stress management - College IS a very stressful time.
2. Time management (key to helping #1)
3. Friends - IMO at least, choose your friends wisely. Some of them sure they can be your best buds when you're having fun.. but are they around when its not all fun and games, or do they ditch ya for the next fellow? Friends like that aren't friends, they're just drinkin' buddies that don't give a hoot about anybody.
usually more stress than they're worth.

Women.. forget it

Hi, Drew,
They're a fact of life. I think I can speak for many of us here, that these "mood swings" affect many intelligent and creative people.

I believe it is the nature of the 'gifted' beast...as much as people may admire your intelligence, they would likely blanche at the dues that you pay.

My best advice? Learn methods of coping, like jogging, or going out and finding a late-nite coffee joint where the bands play and the conversation gets hot and funny. When you suddenly find yourself in that (bad, down) place, you need to have some "go to" already there, in place.

And BEWARE of drugs, (even alcohol)...man, they don't work! (From one who's been there.)

Take care, buddy! PM me if you need to, 'kay?

I went through a stage like that recently. Work had been really dragging my down mentally and I was depressed about bills, and the general course of my life. Then one day I realized that I was just really, really happy and that I didn't need to worry so much about those things...that they were draggin' me right down to the abyss....

Honestly, it was indeed strange, but I've been able to maintain this level of complacency with life for a month or so now. I think I finally thought everything out to the point of not being able to think about anything because I had thought it all through already and found that I was doing TO MUCH DAMN THINKING!

Be like the feathers on the duck...let things slide off your back. Let the rest of us help you carry the weight of the world, you aren't in it alone.

Hopefully you'll have a similar experience...it was quite exhillarating.

Today was a hideous day for me, also... Mood swings and all.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better, though.

Good luck.
