Auto swap meet info

I am wanting to start an autoparts swapmeet. They are very popular around the gearheads
Anyway, I was wondering what I should charge per person to set up a space.Anyone ever been to one,and sold anything,or even ran one themselves?
I have the grounds covered,I have no idea what to charge for someone to set up a booth.

Thanx

Let me ask one of my gearhead buddies. He used to work for Year One and he did quite a few swaps. I'll get back to you, hopefully.

Usually 10-20 bucks depending on the size of the area with no power. At least that's what they were charging 10 years ago at the VW swap meet I used to attend and sell at with my dad....

Yikes! I'm getting old!

Well, let us know how it goes. You want to keep the space relatively cheap, and then charge a buck or two at the gate to make a little for yourself, or if you have enough space and aren't too greedy just let them in for free and go from there and adjust as necessary each time you hold a new swap meet.

Yeah I thought about doing a freebie just to get it started. But I am limited as to when I can do one this year,it will be getting cold soon.
Also the city has a festival that takes up two weekends in Oct, which really doesn't help my situation
Maybe an early Nov.and then early april start to have 1 every 8 weeks,or maybe even 1 a month.

I will let ya know how it goes.Hopefully it will prove useful to the gearheads like me

This is what he sent me:

Well, when starting out, he should assume he's going to get maybe half to three-quarter fill rate, and he should charge just enough to get people to come and set up their stuff. *Cheap, in other words. *Try and figure what the total cost of advertising/marketing the event and the cost of the area itself (fairgrounds, etc), and just try to cover that until it's an established deal --if he's looking to make this an annual deal. One-time swap meets are generally failures. *The longer he goes, the more established it gets, the more he can charge. *But he's not going to make much--if any--money the first few years.

Thanx Whir.I am thinking of doing more like 4- 6 a year. The grounds is paid for,so all I have to do is advertise.
