mp3 problem and the music industry

i was watching mtv2 yesterday ( which is odd cause i never watch mtv) but they were having a discussion on the music industry and albums. They were saying most artist dont release and album they usually do one single and a bunch of filler songs. which i think is right alot of times thats all there is on albums especially here in more recent years. Artist write a hit single and just fill the album up with filler songs to justifiy an $18 price tag. This made me think this is precisely one of the reasons that the MP3 file-sharing is running rampat. Most people dont want to pay that much for just one song so they end up downloading the one song on the album thats any good. my solution: artists need to get off there lazy asses and start writing good music again IMO.

Thus the reason many people don't consider RAP, R&B, hip hop, etc music or the author of the songs "artists"

I don't watch MTV's music videos (only thing I watch is that Spiderman show, even though I don't know why) ... even if I did I know the songs I like that bands I like released as singles wouldn't be on there. They're destroying punk rock by calling bands like Good Charlotte, Sum41, and the complete fool Avril punk.

I find it very hard to find a CD I like MOST of the songs on
Back in the day I would go buy the new Foriegner CD,listen to the whole CD and say "cool",and they weren't my favorite band, but today,I listen to the radio song I bought the CD for and then turn it off. What a let down.

'I find it very hard to find a CD I like MOST of the songs on"

IMO, there isn't very much new music that's worth listening to anyway, much less spending my dollars for. I just make a cassette or CD from my archive of LP's and choose the songs I want .

There's a problem with the rap/etc artists who do that though. They jump into record contracts and end up spending every penny they get from an album and that one "good" song paying the record company for this and that ... many of them are on welfare 6 months after they release an album...there was even an MTV special that covered this topic.
