expedia, travelocity, priceline, what?

My brother has recently graduated from the Naval Training Center and is now stationed in Pensacola. We would like to fly out and visit him in a few weeks. It would be my wife, daughter (19 months) and myself.

So,
I want the cheapest rate I can possibly find for a flight from Denver to Pensacola (K.C. is an option, but only if it saves like $150)
What place have you had the most luck with? Does anyone know of any special rates or ideas for getting a better price?
Expedia was $278x2=$556. Not bad, but i also have to get a motel for 5 nights and rent a car

Thanks!

I use Travelocity and Expedia and double check fares on the other sites, but normally they are within a few bucks of each other. I usually end up buying from Travleocity and have good luck with them.

EDIT: The 19 month old may be able to fly for free.

Depends what airline you fly with. Sometimes the baby flys for free (up to a certain age) if you carry it on your lap.

Yep, that's the plan, provided they let me add a car seat w/ my luggage, or do the rental companies have one you can use?

I got $923 for sept 25th thru oct 2nd. Includes car and motel. Not bad me thinks, but still looking for a true bargain

you could also try www.hotwire.com ... I've never used them myself though

Just be prepared if you use something like hotwire or priceline that you most likely won't get the exact date/time that YOU want to leave.

They will let you check a car seat, some rental companies do provide seats, but I would bring one just to be safe and sanitary. Lord knows if they clean them.

I believe on Continental it was based on weight if they had to be ticketed.

When SJ and I flew on Continental with his parents to Chicago, it was based on space. If there weren't many people on the flight, SJ's dad could keep his walker with him, otherwise, they had to gate check it and give it back to him at the arrival gate.

Used Cheaptickets twice in the last year. We went from Chicago to San Deigo 2 weeks ago ( 4 tickets, 2 adults and 2 children under 11 years ) for $750.00. This fare price was nonstop and roundtrip with departure in the around 9:00 AM on both ends. The carrier that was used was United Airlines. THere was a movie on the flight, a LCD screen dropped down by where the air controls above ones head are, headphones were for each passenger without any extra cost.

I'd like to try them, but when I enter my info in all the fields for a flight+hotel+car, it always bounces me back to the same screen; I tried for about an hour last night and it's doing the same today
