Are You an Organ Donor? Why not?

The decision to become a donor is a private one I will agree, but the choice is one that may be the most important part of someone else's life. Be a hero, be a donor. The best part is it is FREE!

Can't bring myself to donate to science though.

Yeah, donating to science was a tough one for me too, but after all I will be dead so I won't be needing the rest of it. My ashes(symbolic ashes if need be) will suit me just fine. When my wife was in school, she mentioned about how the lack of cadavers is hurting some medical schools. I guess they don't get enough donated so they have to use the ones they have too many times.

After reading the title of this thread I couldn't help but follow through and see what it had to say. Charmler - I don't know who you are but I appreciate you being an advocate for Organ Donation. Some of you may remember me from Sysopt. (if you want to read my whole story search my name (deltaf508) w/ Cystic Fibrosis on that site). I am currently on the Mountain Region Lung Transplant list. I have Cystic Fibrosis and was born with it. I also have a will to live. Thank you Charmler for standing up for something that is not spoken about near enough in today's society. I am very open about my illness and everything that I have been through. If you have any questions or comments, I would be happy to answer/hear them.....I know this isn't a transplant forum, but since the subject came up I just thought I'd say something...

Merry Christmas everyone, and perhaps next year at this time I will be breathing much deeper.

Why yes I am! I don't know about other states but in Florida they ask you when you get your drivers licence. And it states on that if you are.
I was just talking about this subject the other day. I don't see how there can be so many deaths in this country and even if a small percentage are doners there should be more than enough organs for the needy. There must be a lot of "cracks" out there in the system.

I am also, have been since I was 18. As far as for science, I was never asked nor have I considered it.

yes i am, in IL you get teh chance when you sign your license.
