of loose puppys and passing lanes

too totally different subjects, tho both happened on the 2 hour journey home from work today.figgered i d post about em in one thread instead of two.

while driving home tonite,a man walked across the highway a quarter mile down the road from me. i gave it no thought. just as i came upon the spot where he crossed,a black puppy darted into the road. i swerved to avoid it but did hit it. i saw in the mirror it flopped around a bit then ran into the ditch along side of the driveway it ran out of. i turned aorund and headed back to tell someone about it. two young girls retrieved it and it looked fine, except for,i believe,a broken foot. i apologized for hitting it and was relieved that it looked fine, except for the foot. dont people know puppies follow anyone they think will play/feed them?? and to have a dog loose so close to a major(for da UP of Mich, anyway)highway is just asking for disaster. i felt real bad about it,but, what can you do?

ok,now about passing lanes. here in da UP of Mich,we dont have many 4 lane highways. they are all 2 lane with a passing lane thrown in every 20 miles or so.(mostly because of logging trucks)
tonite i m just biding my time till said passing lane comes along,so i can blast past the 8 or so cars in front of me.i see one coming up and get prepared for the"blast"(i have a jeep like daveleaus,so a blast is,well, maybe a "pop"). as soon as the left lane opens up,every one of the cars ahead of me accelerates from 55,to 75 mph. i was so@$%&% mad i couldnt even blink! and i m not gonna try to do 85 to pass these turds and get a ticket ! so i thought maybe they all will keep up the increased speed ,or at least 60-65 anyway after the passing lane disappears and the highway goes back to two lanes. you guessed it!every one is back to 52-55 mph. ive noticed this before when passing in a passing lane, the car i m passing will speed up,but not anything like this. what good are the lanes,if everyone just speeds up till the lane is over then slows back down again?? to quote Calvin(and Hobbes): AAAARRRGGGGGHHH!!!

ok,i m better now

Move to New Jersey.

I-95 and I-80 are 8 lanes or more in places.

hahaha
Ya I'd NEVER seen those types of highways before.. I was up in the northern areas of Ontario and I saw that.. the intermittent passing lane

Just give me a REAL passing lane people!

What's also bad is if the guy ahead of you wants to pass.. but he's only slightly faster than the guy he was passing

Sorry bout the pup, glad to hear he should be ok

And all the slow people congregate in the left lane so you just stay right and keep right on moving.

Those types of highways are the BEST....that's all we have in Vermont except for the occasional interstate.

Passing on a 2 lane road with very short straight stretchs is a very challenging feat. What a rush
