Record prices, record attendance

I have been hearing some interesting stuff on the news about gas prices. Now they have risen fast and hard. and the dopes in california pay through the nose at some 50 to 70 cents more then I do.

But all that asside I thought of this, shouldn't prices go up every year. In other words Gas was 50 cents when I was a kid, now they are a 1.50 that would appear that it has only gone up 1 dollar in 25 to 30 years.

Then that brought to mind that they say that X movie or Y movie is the all time box office smash. Compare it with hits of yesteryear. But they do this in dollars. In reality gone with the wind probably still holds the title for most people attending a move per capita.

Wouldn't per capita be a better way to evaluate movie performance.

And when saying something hit a record price how would one account for inflation.

I mean steak hits a record price about every 6 months.

random thoughts from an epidemic

Yes, the dopes in California are paying $2.00+
Let's all put our cars away and NOT drive anywhere.

Thanks for hurling another insult upon the gas prices insult, Epi.

Of course not all californians are dopes. But the majority of voting ones is apparently dopey.

Yea lets have a special blend of gasoline, oh yea and lets tax the hell out of it so we can be more worldly like europe. "Doh! it got expensive WTH"

My last tank was right around 2.10 but that was a few days ago.. has gone up since then

Here's a listing of the lowest / highest gas prices Los Angeles County.

http://www.losangelesgasprices.com/ <-- dunno how accurate, but sounds about right. Everywhere I see is over 2.15 now... It's not much fun paying over $20 to fill my little tank ;*-/

I don't see how the voters could have predicted this, but I did sign for Davis' recall, so I can't be THAT dopey

What are you paying up there, Mike?

Right now the cheapest is about $2.03, but rumor has it that it's bad gas.
Most places are at $2.07+++

Hey vass, you wouldn't believe how many people I see that are shelling over $50 a tank.

Idaho is weird...when places like California are over $2/gallon we are usually $1.60 to $1.80/gal ...

But when everyone else is under $1 ... we're still stuck over $1.10!

Here in Georgia its a little better than that. the prices shot up almost 15 cents to $1.54(153.9 anyone willing to try to find out why they still tack the .9 cents on the price instead if rounding it up to the next whole penny??)

Epidemics thoughts about the ticket sales are pretty much on the mark. They use the "dolars gross per weekend" because

THIS
"2.5 million people watched this movie the first 3 days of its debut."

isn't nearly as dramatic as saying

"This movie made 18.75 Million in the first 3 days of its debut"

Sounds like quite a lot doesnt it? The fact that a movie like "gone with the wind" sold out many theatres at .25 a ticket isnt mentioned.

I would bet that if they did "per capita"(number of people who see the pic in comparison with how many people there are) quotes the movie industry would be severly alarmed about how few people are going these days.
