How many of us use our computers for work and don't get reimbursed?
I do lots of stuff on my home pc for work.
I suggested to the company that they reinburse me like a car allowance. Talk about a blank stare! Yet they are willing to entertain the idea of laptops, which are overkill and not likely to be used by the older sales reps.
I suggested $50.00 per month. Why should they pay for quality outputs that they can get for free seems to be their logic?
Am I the only one in this boat?

Hence the reason I do SQUAT at home for my work. I'm not paid enough salary as it is so I'm not doing extra work for free on my own equipment at home.
For each person it all comes down to how much is your company worth to you? If you're company is worth doing extra work on your own PC, etc. then go for it. If not, they can't force you.

I do work from home, but I also take care of personal stuff at work, so it balances out.

I get a laptop at work, and I used to lug that boat anchor home every night.. but got tired of it so now if I need to get something done I just do it on my pc. A bit more of a PITA but it works and less hassle.

They'll start reimbursing you for your computer as soon as you start reimbursing them for the pens, pads, software, wasted time and faked expense reports. |

I don't think they have to pay you for anything. Unless they are sending you home with like 4 hours worth of work.
My dad leaves at about 6:30-7:00 (depending on whether or not he's driving or riding his bike). The time he gets there is very flexible. Sometimes he works through lunch, and other times he ends up taking an hour and a half lunch... At the end of the day, he comes home with no work to do. Then again, he also gets called into work sometimes.
Everyone has some kind of personal committment to work. Like I said before, it really depends on what you're doing at home.

I could work at home out of hours but I absolutely refuse to. Any paid work I do at home on the PC attracts contract rates which is far in excess of anything my regular work would offer |
