Dishwasher loading poll....

Ok, I am having a debate with the wife about loading the dishwasher....concering the utensil caddy.

Do they go handle up, or handle down...

Myself I think they should go handle up, so when you take them out you don't have to touch the eating surface..

I like handle up so all the sharp edges are hidden. Too easy to cut yourself otherwise. The wife says handle down so they get cleaned better. I've never noticed that they clean better one way or the other, though.

However they land when i throw them in, i don't waste time carefully putting each item in a certain way around.

Handle down. For some reason it seems to me that the "used" surface gets more cleaning action that way because it's sticking out.

Handle up, easier to get out later with worrying about cutting yourself on knives. Or poking yourself with the forks.

Exactamongo.

Strange, I haven't seen any arguments for handle down.

Ditto

For the cleaning better argument...
does the bottom of the plate get washed better than the top of the plate assuming they're standing on edge in the dishwasher?

Do you stop the washer in the middle and rotate them all!?!

Optimus, I'm also guessing you don't put the dishes away?
Its a pain to have to rotate them around for every stinkin' for and knife to get them in the same direction for the drawer.
(unless you just throw a bunch of stuff in there )
