Ralph Nader speaks
Couldn't have said it better myself! http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/...ent/index.html
"There is no need to wait for prosecutors or civil suits by the next-of-kin to haul you into South Dakota's courts," Nader wrote in a letter to Janklow, a first-term House Republican and former governor. "You should resign your congressional seat immediately in atonement for what was only going to be a matter of time -- the taking of life by a driver relentlessly bent on turning his vehicle into a lawless, dangerous missile."

I agree. The guy has a track record of disregard for the law, and now as a direct result he has killed someone. He needs to go, or his constituants need to run him out on a rail.

Agreed. His license should be permanently revoked and he should do real jail time. Moron.
Look at it this way. Once a day you go out in your back yard with your hunting rifle and fire a round into the woods, aiming at nothing. The police come out and repeatedly cite you for a misdemeanor firearms violation. Then one day your round hits and kills an innocent bystander. Is it negligent homicide or manslaughter? Do you do hard time or just get a slap on the wrist because it was an accident?
In neither case did the person intend to harm someone, yet in both cases it was just a matter of time until the reckless behavior resulted in a death.

I never figured I would agree with Nader on anything, but he hit the nail on the head there. William Janklow needs to save the taxpayers some money and resign.

On a side note here I could send a similar note to Ralphie asking him to not bother with the next election since he's not going to get elected anyway and the end result of his running will be an easy win for Bush.

"No charges have been filed against Janklow in the accident. But an accident report, according to the Associated Press, says that Jankow was driving 20 mph hours over the speed limit."
Police usually low ball the speed of the vehicle, so that the charge is easier to prove. But 20 MPH over the limit, combined with a history of speeding and reckless driving...
If it was anyone else they would be in court already, not out holding press confrences.
(Just a side note, but aren't we the people paying this murderer to represent us in the federal goverment? But aren't felons not able to hold public office? So why isn't his pay being withheld pending the final court decision?)

I think he is a hell of a lot better than bush or gore
| You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, but the cold fact is Ralph is unelectable. He'll never win, but he will pull votes from the Democratic candidate, thereby handing the election to the Republicans, the very party he is most opposed to. He did to Al Gore what Ross Perot did to George Bush, Sr. in '92. Quote: |

| 'Bout time.

Is Ralph from South Dakota or something? Or is he just trying to inject himself into the spotlight for a few milliseconds.
