TechIMO IRC Channel
Has anyone considered starting a TechIMO IRC channel? I was thinking just a place to chat, ask quick questions or just hang out. I can get someone to setup a bot to hold it. Just a suggestion. Never know, it might be a flop, but then again it might turn out to be a pretty active channel. Let me know if this sounds good and I'll talk to someone about setting up a but. Id do it but Im on dialup so it would be gone when Im there. That and I dont know crap about bots... |

Yeah, I still think It would be a good idea but this topic has been disccussed since as soon as this site got started and before we left the other one.
Theres been a chat on yahoo and other misc. sites, but seems that noone was willing or just everyones time is to different plus alot of newbies dont use IRC and theres always been the IRC fear of scriptkiddes.
I just dont think it will ever be anything more than a one, two week thing.

ah, ok. I wasnt sure if this had been discussed or not. Just a thought. I know what you mean about script kiddies. Ive had some troubles with em, but that just earns them either a warning and if they do it again a kick/ban, or just a kick/ban. There are some scripts that are ok like the sysinfo or colortype scripts. I'll check that link out and ask around, see if anyone wants to join the DC community if they havent already.

| | Guest | Oops.. sorry folks, it's not enabled. Mea culpa.
The Big Guy (aka ScottW) hasn't had the time to look into the various aspects of running and controlling it yet.

We also have a room on the Team Anandtech IRC server. We usually use it to organise UT games. I asked Bkehoe if it was alright to use for general TechIMO IRC and he said it was ok. http://tairc.2y.net/ irc://tairc.2y.net:6667
