Yep, I heard that too. It is pretty wierd that the electric company up there has no backup redundancies. One tree falling on one power line in Ohio can cause an international blackout? If this is true, then we need a serious revamp of our electrical system in this country or we are up for some hard times ahead.

est. cost to bring grid up to snuff $100B... only 1/6th of the cost of the war and occupation of iraq. We should be able to swing it with no problems. Just add it to the deficit =)

Uhh, The tree didn't fall on the line.
The line was so overloaded that it heated up and druped into the tree.
Heat=expansion and all that stuff.

Aye, yay yay. The NE power-grid is in shambles. At least the power for them doesn't go out everytime it threatens to snow (like, oh, say, maybe...HERE). But one line knocking out what, 4 states and part of a Canadian province....
ya, that's pretty bad.

That's great news. Time to start working on that raise.

It's ridiculous. Ontario is in bad enough shape power wise and then something that's not even in our COUNTRY causes a power outage that for some people was 30 hours and more.
Sad, sad state of affairs.

"The picture is blurred by corporate finger-pointing, political jostling and the sheer complexity of tracing power's "
No one ever wants to accept responsibilty, but they don't mind raising the rates to cover thier a$$es.
