Automotive repair question

OK How do I do this one?

I have a 89 Blazer with the tilt steering loose. So I pullled it all the way down to the knuckle in the steering column, but I can't figure out how to get the knuckle apart to tighten the bolts under it.

It looks like there are just two threaded pins one on each side that hold it together.

Am I correct to assume that I screw a long bolt into the pins to remove them? Or am I way off track?

Hope that is enough info

Thanx

If it's similiar to my Chevies the tilt steering wheel has spheres retained by set screws. After removing the wheel, the plate and directional switch and or cruise switch, it's tough retightening them. I had to make a special tool because the clearance was so tight. Make sure you put some locktite on the threads so they won't back off again.

If you already have the column torn down to the point of seeing the pivots, you should see the retainer screws mentioned above. You will need a long skinny inverted torx socket to tighten three screws. I agree with using locktite on the screws so they don't loosen up again. '

Good Luck
