Car amps in a doors.

I am in the proscess of collecting componts for my car. I was wondering could I take a car amp and use a ac-dc converter to hook it up to my audio system at the moment. It should work.

It depends on how big the amp is.And if the converter has enough to carry it.It will work though, maybe not at full volume.

Also if your using one of those little wall wart type power supplies,I doubt it will work, and it will likely give ya a bad noise. Those things don't like audio gear very well.

Car amplifiers can pull some serious amperage when you start wailing on them.
I dont think you will find a converter that could handle the load they can draw without spending some major bucks.

No, because the battery won't be able to keep itself charged like it can in the car.

This isnt Sweet, but one of her friends... the answer to ur question is to use a low cost, L-bracket, open frame pwr supply made by peeps like Condor, AC-DC, Mighty Mite, etc rated for the peaks that ur amp requires.... a simple converter will not do the job as u need filtering on both the front end and the back end to smooth the sign wave out to give a constant, no fluctuating wave form to prevent distortion... remember, an amp will amplify any wave form coming into it an u wont like the sound quality if the supply is not clean..

IC My friends dad fixes electronics and has something that he can plug amps and sterios into to power them. And you can crank them all the way up.
