| OP's comment may have been fired from the hip, but there's a lot of catholics out there whose faith has been badly shaken by this scandal and especially the church's handling of it. I'm sure many people feel as OP does. For those who don't see any sense in religion, or for those whose faith has been destroyed, it's a valid statement.

Even though pedophiles are the scum of the earth, they don't deserve to die at the hands of another prisoner. Now if they want to change the laws to where a pedophile could receive the death penalty, that would be all right with me.
