The mother is probably so used to running things over that she never noticed it.

How long does it take to check around and make sure your kids aren't in the way of the car. Especially with a two-yr-old.

However stupid she is, now she has to live with the fact that she killed her own child. Not just the guilt, but the ridicule from family/friends...

I suppose ridicule was the wrong word...imagine telling everybody you killed your kid by running him/her over. That sucks.

My reaction exactly...that poor woman, one "no brainer" moment, and now a life of sheer nightmarish guilt. God have mercy on her.
