It's a simple command that knows what your ISP is, your IP, OS, site you are on, etc.

Thanks for the laugh this morning Bill!!!

I clicked on the link for the fun of it, and it got my browser wrong.

I also tried it on a "clean" (just installed OS) machine and it claimed the same things.

BTW, if you check it out, the Company's site tells you all the scary crap and tells you to download the "Evidence Eliminator". It goes on to say it's a 30 day money back trial, but no where does it tell you how much it costs.

I wonder how many suckers fall for this deceptive marketing.

i wouldn't doubt that a ton of people fall for it.

it also recognized my browser incorrectly (gotta love opera).

these are commands that everyone can run, it's rather simple. if you notice your "surfing habits" are simply who sent you to that link and the "keywords" are just made up to scare you. as for the isp they can determine that from your ip addy. the "your risk" is also just made up. very effective tho since they threw in some information that is true and so people not knowing much better would believe it's all true...gotta love people that exploit other's lack of computer knowledge

Not me that's for sure! You have to admit though that this kind of crap makes you stop and go: "Huh?" when it happens if only for a moment.

While I have a firewall through my router, of late I have been thinking about getting a software firewall as well.

That can be done easiest with SSI ... just a few characters can pick that up on anyone.
