The other night there was a bomb/suspicious package at the Iwo Jima Memorial. I happened to be working @ the gate closest to it, about 1/8m away. Arlington PD notified us of it and said it was confirmed (which later I doubted because you would have heard it on the national news). We shut the gates down, closing off all inbound and outbound traffic because the PD had to secure the roads outside the gate. As we were doing that, someone noticed a cell phone lieing on a barracade near the gate...no one working that area owned it. To make a long story short, EOD (Explosive Ordance Disposal) was called in and responded to the phone after they cleared the Memorial. Several high ranking people were floating around (not a fan of that

) while all this was going on....finally, they decide it's *just* a cell phone, not some sort of device (never know, I guess...).
Cool thing is, the brass was very impressed that it was handled well and so me and the other guy who was working the gate at the time were bought tickets to the Redskins vs. Ravens game on Saturday...never been to a football game, not even a fan

. Oh well, should be fun

. In the Army, it takes a lot to be noticed for something GOOD...on the other hand, do something wrong, even a little, and everybody knows.
