my brother had a maverick which was pretty funny. i paid i think it was about 800 for mine. i put a little less than half towards it with my parents.
just curious what all else had as their first taste of real freedom..... ahhhh to be back in 87 again.

Mine was a 1972 Chevy Vega with a 327" smallblock and 2 speed Powerglide tranny out of an old 67 Impala. Paid $1200 for it. It was a very fun car! (Fast too!) I surprised many unsuspecting Camaro's and Mustang's!

My first car...

83 Olds Cutlass
Hmm but had a 70 something 350 in it
Damn points and condenser would blow about 4000 miles..
Got electronic ignition..
Then whole engine blew...

had a friend of my dad's put in another engine he found in an autojunkyard (CHEAP)
that just sucked lol, I could get some mad acceleration ... about 10mph per hour LOL

THEN took it to a garage to get another engine.. this was just a 307, a bit of a pooch but actually quite reliable
Had that car for like 5 years!
I got that car back in 1992 I think

no pics of it, I miss that ol' car *sniff*

Hi,

An Austin A40 Cut down and fitted with Dual Wheels ( 2 Rims welded together not 2 Axles) at the rear to help it get accross Muddy Ground. I think I paid around $40.00 for it whaic was equivalent to my weeks wages at the time(1977) as I had just started my apprenticeship.

I don't know what you guys in the US can compare this Car with but people in the UK and Colonies should have seen one in its unadulterated state.

Cheers

No actually. It fit quite nicely. Although a couple of the header tubes had to go through the fender wells! Changing the spark plugs was a nightmare though!

After the 327 fried, it was replaced with an overclocked 450 hp 388" smallblock backed up by Turbo 400 tranny!

I hate to admit this but ...

1928 Model A Ford coupe that I bought when I was 14, completely stripped to the bare frame and running gear and rebuilt. Panted fire engine red when all had been rebuilt.

My friends wanted me to take it to the Santa Maria (CA) airport to the weekend drag races as they wanted to know how it'd do in the quarter mile. That old 4 cylinder engine gave the impression of a lot of low speed torque. However when it got much over 55 mph it was hard to see in the rear view mirror due to the vibration.

Wish I still had the car. It would have been a good long-term investment.

Hmm, my first truck was a carmel Ford F-100 straight 6, 4.9L with a campershell. I loved that old truck, I could work on everything myself. My first vehicle I bought and paid for myself entirely, is my current maroon Ford F-150 V-8 4.6L. She is a great truck and treated me great

Well, My first car was a 1990 Ranger standard cab short box with a blown engine. Thats when the fun started. I friend of mine bet me I couldn't put a 350 Chevy in it.

Well, I did. It was a fast truck. I just sold it last year(without the engine of course). I used to do alot of light to light racing with it. Blasting by Camaro's and Mustang's with what looked like a stock Ranger.
Then it was time for colloge, the truck had to come with me. All the money I had put into it kept me from buying something a little more fuel efficient. But, I did beat the schools trailer queen drag car by nearly 2 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

AHHH memories.
