Ok I feel young here haha.. and feel like I had one of the worse first car.. a 1987 Dodge Colt hatchback.. was a good car though.. The trans went in it.. and that was the end.. funny thing is that car could book some speed.. but past 70 it started to wag in the wind.. felt like it was lifting off the ground... =)
Nope... I think I win the gold for "worst first car"....

Mine was a POS Ford Escort... I think it was an '86 or '87, not sure. It lasted all of a month before the tranny crapped out on it, which made it totaled. Boy did that thing suck. Then I had to drive Dad's '89 Taurus for a while... hated that thing too.

First car I bought myself was a '95 Accord LX. Man did I love that car. Did pretty good for a 4-banger. It's demise involved rapid contact with the rear portions of another car. Now I drive an '89 Accord LXI. Not as many ponies, but it's got a sunroof, and it's still going great with 197K miles on it.

First car was technically a 94 Subaru Legacy, then I got a speeding ticket and the insurance is going to jump too much. Dad got mad and is now making me drive the '90 Isuzu Spacecab Pickup.

My first was a '65 Corvair Monza (110hp woohoo!) Known as the Green Frog. It was a cool surf car. I remember cranking Van Halen's first cassette on the shreadin' Sparkomatic stereo.
I moved up after that car!
2: '68 Firebird 400\ TH400 with folddown rear seat and deluxe int.
3. '70 LS-5 SS454 Chevelle, M-22, 12Bolt w/ 3.08's. It still pulled 13 sec. quartermile times. That one and the '68 RS/SS 396 Convertible Camaro I had are worth so much now. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

my first - 1970 Beetle - got it with 75,000 miles - two engines later - 154,000 - and sideswiped by a transport [ I got cut off} took the rail and bent the front end up rather than take the boggie wheels in the drivers door.

however - I was the mech on a 70 cady 535ci , 72 charger - 340 4 barrel - 4 speed - and a bunch of really fast junk.

the best was a beetle that got a ferrari rear end - aparently the engine and such got liberated from somewhere. a white GTO got its doors blown off - and pulled over during that little race - the beetle never stopped. and the cops gave up after the beetle pulled away from them at 100mph.
- wiz

at the time we knew that the interceptors here only did 127mph.

Well, my first car (at 23 yrs old - had bikes before that) was a 1977 Ford Escort panel van ( rebored 1.6L with 4 barrel carby and Holley extractors). That thing could move! I ended up pushing a bit too hard on a gravel road and spiked the front end with a strainer post. Twisted the whole frame. No insurance. So it was back to bikes for a while after that....
