1961 Rambler Classic. 196 CID 6 cyl, push button automatic, and UGLY.......but, bar none, the best car in the world for the drive-ins that were popular at the time (circa 1970). It had a front bench seat that folded back, and converted the car into a king size bedroom......I mean, who went to a drive in to watch a movie anyways.......if you get my drift!!

The first car I ever bought myself was a 1959 Triumph TR3A. This was a compromise to the 1965 Corvette that I was wanting to buy, but my dad said NOWAY you are going to have a car with 350 hp... This replaced the baby blue 1949 Chevy sedan that my dad had bought for me....

My first car was a 1976 Plymouth Gran Fury. 360, 2 barrel carb, an ugly green with a cream vynil top and tan interior. The car was big, loud, and ugly, but damn would it move. I still wish I had it today, but like all big old cars around here, the guy took it and ran it in the demo derby. *sniff* |

My first car I got for my 16th birthday was a 1973 Triumph Spitfire 1600cc that needed new u-joints, my dad replaced them because every mechanic in our small town was scared of "British" cars, when they actually are standard- not metric and very basic.
My first car I bought myself, that my parents couldn't take from me (lol) was a 1976 MG Midget also 1600cc $500.00. My husband became a master mechanic because of that car- we replaced everything except the head and the carburator after 8 years of ownership, I loved that little car and would do it all over again!

Hey Cadet!
I inherited from my Grandmother with 32,000 Original miles on it ! A 1964 Chevy 2 with the 2 barrel holly, 8 cylnader- this was in 1988. I let a family memeber use it (because I had my gas econo MG and VW Van) who carelesslly loaned it to an employee, who in turn ripped out the original, perfect baby blue front seat and put maroon leather electric cadillac seats in! Tore out the original Stereo and took off the smog pump and put a
basketball size dent in the back quarter panel. and lost all the original Hubcaps. The family memeber was my father, it was his mother's car, what could I say? I complained, but after that it sat in my carport for several years. I turned down several $5,000.00 offers. I moved and left it there and my father sold it to someone who I hope appreciates it!

My first car I was given was a '65 Malibu SS. I wrecked it twice pretty bad when I was 16. Totaled it the second wreck. The first car I bought was a '73 El Camino SS. This car netted me 22 speeding tickets and a few neg driving tickets. It had a 350 but it was stock and slow, so I Tim Taylored it. I put in a .273 rearend, turbo 400, and a roller rocker hydraulic flat cam kit with high lift springs on some tricked heads with an Edelbrock intake and Hooker headers. It took a bit to get going, but once I put in a 3200 stall TC it would get to 100mph in 2 gears and it had a 7200 redline. It was a high speed hauler. The biggest speeding ticket I got was 80 over in a 55mph zone on I90 just west of Ritzville WA. When I went to court the judge changed it to wreckless driving and took my license. The fine for the speeding was 400, for wreckless was 900. I guess they needed the money. The nicest car I had was my dads '67 Mustang GT. It was a car the previous owner won on a game show. When dad got it he had a shop do a body off restoration. It had a 390 4-speed and ladders. The car was quick. It had a top speed of 120 but it could get there in a 1/4 mile. I never got a ticket in that car. I got to drive it my junior year in high school. It drank the gas like a muscle car should.
