May I start a War ?
I am intrigued !
I am currently watching a film called Mississippi Burning, which appears to be set in the 50's - 60's Era!
It really isn't that long ago since the United States was a bigoted, racist country, employing ( South African expression, only one I know that fits, ) Apartheid principles!
Anyone have any thoughts on this ?
I am interested in opinions!

So, you infer the UK is not longer a bigoted, racist country employing Apartheid principles?
That could be debated, also.
Cheers
Mick

Not at all, Mick!
I know the UK fits those categories, although the Apartheid one is a little hard to observe as we have been 'politically correct' under a Labour Government for a while!
I am just interested in the opinions about this!

Re: May I start a War ?
well its easy to make accusations about something you have no experience with. i did not live during those times and am not from the mississippi, but i did live in tennesee for awhile. I agree with mick...maybe not a great idea to start a discussion about something that you have only experienced on the telly, with such broad comments as those.

I think every country has it's history of racism. We have a history of taking Aboriginal children from their families and giving them to white folk, and trying to "civilize" Aboriginal culture.
But the past is not what's important, even though we are sorry for what happened. It's now and the future that are important. How do we treat ppl today?
Cheers

I hear that, Mick and Blackwatch!
But aren't most religions based upon events of the past ?
Isn't Christianity based upon events of 2003 years ago?
Are you irreligious to disregard the past ?

Religion is the biggest pile of crap ever to grace Earth.
It was created by man to make money.

Oh no, I doubt any of us are quick to forget or dismiss the past. "Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it." It is most certainly a part of our country's recent history. And it being in the past makes it no less appalling. I myself am completely in awe of how tyranical our human race has been throughout the past. And even when we have defeated one oppression, we fall victim to another. Perhaps merely being able to fight only one at a time. Or perhaps human inginuity continuously finding sadistic ways to satisfy the whims of the tyrant at heart, whom has the power to inflict such whims.

I didin't say disregard the past. Learn from it, and move on. What my parents did is not as important to me as is how I act. What the first settlers here did is not as important to me as how I act.
That's what I mean.
And Optimus Prime, I agree with you to an extent: man-made religion is definitely a bad thing.
Cheers
Mick
