Japanese symbols for tattoo

Could some of you please help me find a few symbols for a tattoo?

I am looking for the symbols for:

Humility;
humble;
Heart;
Perseverance;
Persevere;
or anything close to these meanings.

I have come across many sites, but I find different simbols for ceartain meanings.. I do not dare to post any links because I don't want to send anything false.

That's the problem I'm having. I can find sites, but not all of the sites agree on which symbol means what.

Be careful and know what you want when you go there. I don't know how true this is, but I heard it on the radio in one of those stupid news segments. Supposedly, an Asian tattoo artist was sick and tired of people putting Asian letters on their body when they didn't know anything about the language or the culture. So, the next person that came in asking for an Asian character got a letter that symbolized a small...appendage. So, know what you want when you go in.

The patron is suing (supposedly).

Good luck finding the correct one, and please post any sites you have that seem to have correct info. While I am not in the market for a tat, the info you are seeking would be interesting regardless.

someone posted the link to the site a little while ago about that article in question. it was an angelfire site though, and no other news sources picked it up so it may or may not be true. But I really really hope it is. ::fingers crossed::

besides, why do you want a chinese symbol on your body. so you can "look cool." I can guarantee you will annoy any asian who happens to see it.

sorry if my views are harsh, but it stems from my inability to comprehend why people get tattoos. Whats it gonna look like when you're old and wrinkley??

I would find a friend that knows Japanese or Chinese and ask them.

CraigK is right though. I am half Japanese and it does kind of bother me to see people get characters written on them that they don't know about, or don't believe in.

One kid at my high school got "PEACE" written on his arm. He was always getting into fights and what not. Kind of strange.

disrespectful? um, displaying a fondness of the characters used in a language is hardly disrespect.
