rant on (oh thank you mr hacker for teaching us all how bad Bill Gates is)
MSBlast.exe is a wonderful piece of technological skill.
You have saved us all from a weak link in MS's software.
Thank you again for your concern for my well being and you have helped us all to realize that a tremendously complex piece of software has bugs.
I am so much better off as is the entire world for your assistance.
Now for every minute wasted by business, and private citizens wasted on this problem I would suggest that you spend one minute in jail.
For my personal involvement you shall be jailed for an hour or two. If my case is similiar to others out there I hope you spend the rest of your moronic life in jail.
Thanks again for your effort to save the world.

If I could have gotten my hands on this guy last night, he would have prayed for jail. It was not my idea of a fun way to spend an evening.

This moron doesn't deserve the title hacker.
I truly hope they catch him. Probably not a US citizen, though, so might not even get convicted, depending on where he is, even if someone does track him down.
What a waste of time, money and effort for a joke. Sick, it is.
Cheers
Mick

It is a worm. It finds you, you don't find it. If you are running 2K or XP you need to close its wormhole or it will get into your system.
Regarding how horrible this... be glad this virus wasn't as potent as it could be. Had it been written properly, it could have tanked your HD in a blink, or sat there silently logging passwords. It was only through poor coding that it has caused system instability.
It is the variants of this virus that will cause the most problems for those who have not patched the MS designed holes.

ahh. that makes sense. maybe it was just a jerk who wasn't trying to destroy mass amounts of peoples systems but make m$ aware of it. kinda like what epidemic said but minus the sarcasm. I'm so glad i did not get this virus. Or I'd probably be just as pissed as everyone else.

I think a router, or at least software firewall should be pretty much standard these days..
Hackers will always be a part of this system...
so why not be prepared, or at least try hard.
EDIT:
forgot to add..
REGULAR UPDATES also.

The problem I've seen is folks on dial-up. They figure they don't need a firewall, as they only dial-up when they need to.
So they have their AV progs and think they are safe. They are very careful with loading software and not opening attachments, and then wonder how come they get this virus.
I'm going on a campaign to tell dial-up users to get firewalls, I am.
Cheers
Mick
