Sounds like where I live.

Annually there is some form of election (city, county, state, federal, whatever), and every year the area is redistricted, given new polling locations, and generally FUBAR.

One year, there was three votes just a few monthes apart. Guess what? Each one used a different polling location, and devided the area differently.

The red tape has got to stop soon...

Kind of an inflammatory heading eh?

BTW... when making abject criticism of a group, you may want to make sure you are using proper grammar. I am sure even some of the stupidest minorities in the nation could catch the mistake you made in the title of this thread.

Regarding the issue itself... some are also seeking to delay the recall due to the fact that antiquated punch cards are being used id several districts. They are to be phased out before the 2004 elections. This whole mess is turning into a circus that will rival the one that occurred in Florida.

Such are the hazards of copy and paste. Once you post you cannot go back in a title unlike the body of a post.

However, I guess none of us are perfect:

Spell check would not pick up either error.

Nonetheless, it is in fact what the lawsuit ultimately infers.

I would be insulted, were I a minority, by the claims made by the NAACP. The suit is trying to disenfranchise the constitutional right of the voters (some minorities signed the recall petition BTW) to recall an elected official by using a bogus disenfranchisement argument that is insulting as well as invalid.

Spell check would miss that too =) It continues! =Þ

Anyhow... point out where the article implies they are stupid.

Quote:
The Oct. 7 voting date does not leave enough time to educate minority voters about election issues or encourage them to vote, according to Huffman.

"It disallows us the opportunity to do the kind of outreach we normally do,'' Huffman said.

"That's going to be the majority of our people who we always have the most difficulty in turning out, getting them to understand the process, and to vote,''
The NAACP may be saying that minorities are too ignorant to vote. However, nothing in that article questions their level of intelligence.

I suggest you thumb through your Webster's if you aren't aware of the difference between the two words. I would have no qualms claiming you or other members of the board are ignorant (though it does have a negative connotation). But for me to claim members are stupid is much more insulting as it questions their level of intelligence rather than their level of education.

The title is inflammatory because of your use of the word stupid.

BTW, What was the site from which you copied and pasted the title?

They aren't really saying they're too ignorant either.

Quote:
During a conference call with reporters today, Huffman and California Labor Federation official Art Palaski blasted the recall effort, calling it a "coup'' attempt by the state's conservative interests.

The Oct. 7 voting date does not leave enough time to educate minority voters about election issues or encourage them to vote, according to Huffman.
They want time to influence the poor people and minorities to vote for a democratic candidate. Their goal isn't to be fair to minority voters. It's to muster votes for their liberal bed-buddies. This is not being fair to minority voters. Fair would be presenting them with a balanced view and letting them form their own opinion. If this were to happen many of them may come to the opinion that it's actually the liberals that are keeping them down.
