The universal rule something that is always right.

The last place you look is always where the thing is that you are seeking.

I have torn my computer lab and storage room looking for a cable I have not used in 2 years.

I noticed something of a pattern forming here. When ever I search for something no matter how long and how hard I look the item is always in the last place I look. Why is this?

It's always in the last place you look simply by definition. If you found what you are looking for, why would you continue to look?

Thank goodness!!

I'm glad I found this thread, I was looking all over the place.

Graphics and OS's, PC Mods, even my PM box. Nada.

I browsed the General Tech Discussion Forum, BTW, it wasn't there either.

But then I came back here, and there it was! So I can finally stop looking for it.

time for toe inspection now.

A pattern for me is to look for a very long time, give up, and yell for my wife, who usually finds what I've been looking for in under 10 seconds. Or I just ask her to begin with. The more obscure the object I'm looking for and the better it's hidden the more likely she is to know where it is. Like knowing that my tie clip is in the medicine cabinet in the downstairs bathroom on the third shelf behind the expired bottle of kaopectate. Now, HTH does she know that?

I think we usually leave the most obvious place to last. While we are searching we say to ourselves 'It can't possibly be there'. And often it is

it's because she's hiding them! Think about it, you search for something for ages and ages and you get in a fight and say "OKAY YOU FIND IT THEN!" and she promptly finds it and says she found it in the place you first looked.

THEY LIE! MOTHERS, SISTERS AND WIVES LIE TO US!

I never have this dilemma thanks to the process of aging.

I always seem to forget what I'm looking for and no longer have the need to find it.

What really annoys me is when I look for my reading glasses and one of my kids points out that they are tucked into the neckline of my t-shirt.
