Back 2 Skool!
Yes, it's almost that time again. This time, I'm starting a degree in Electronic Engineering. I'll be taking two years of GenEd classes at the local CC. Calculus should prove phun...then transferring to SIUE!
It stands to be a MUCH bigger challenge than crappy ol' Vatterott (I knew I should have left enrollment when I seen a picture of one of their "campuses" in a strip mall and one that was a small bank building).
The degree I received in Computer Technology from Vatterott got me nothing more than a $10K bill. The only job lead they got me was selling knives for Cutco! (and I was tied for second in the class ranking)

You got a degree for only $10k? What country are you in?
You do know what you are getting into right? With electrical engineering, you have to constantly be upgrading because technology changes that fast. Electrical isn't one of those fields where you just learn it once and you're set for life.
Good luck |

Well, I would like to design technologies, so that's the arena I went into.
And the degree for 10K was after testing out of $6K and getting $6K worth the grants. And St. Louis is the country
For another 30weeks (and another 10K) I could have gotten an "Associate's", but I decided not to waste the money after seeing the huge list of graduates still looking for jobs, even with the "Associate" degree (in quotes because the accrediting commision they use is a horrible joke, and it's an AOC - Associate's of Occupation Studies rather than one of Applied Sciences).
I believe what I actually obtained is called a diploma...

Diplomas are 1-2 years, degrees are 4 years. You usualy can't get a degree from a technical school.
Try to go to a big name place where getting a job after graduation is expected. If you go to some crap place that nobody takes seriously, you don't exactly "save money" because all employers will questoin your credibility. You can take 2 guys, one from MIT and one from a place called YOPS (its a made up name). Both guys may be of equal ability but the guy from MIT has credibility. The guy from YOPS would have to prove that he actualy went to a real school and not some scam school like Devry.

Yes, there's one thing I've noticed: a good (and smart) school doesn't waste money on advertising on the TV! They spend their money where it counts, which creates smart & happy graduates, which turns the rep wheel. And that's the real way to keep a school enrollment full.
Not by putting off technology upgrades for years and cutting back on staff to get ads on the TV, or employing a telemarketing team...
And Vatterott is really crankin' in the dough, as they just started a Bachelor's Degree program. I'd like to know how they're getting away with it, because their setup was a bad joke.
