Dirty Media Trick?
Does this look like a coincidence? Admittedly Taylor did say "God willing, I will be back" but CNN did have room in their link to at least quote it is “I will be back”. Instead they shortened it to what just happens to be on of Arnold’s most memorable lines and puts Arnold’s picture in the group on the right next to the quote. It’s almost as if subliminally they want readers to equate Arnold Schwarzenegger with Charles Taylor. |

I think you are just reading into it too much... I've seen that picture before, I think that it's just random.

Heh heh. Reminds me of the Dukakis/Bush campaign. Dukakis called Bush "the Joe Isuzu of politics." Shortly afterwards, Isuzu ran an ad of Joe Isuzu wearing a white cowboy hat and some magazine ran it full page next to an article about Dukakis that had a picture of Dukakis was wearing a similar white hat. His campaign cried foul for months.

Maybe I was reading too much into it. Too much coffee this morning I guess. But it does look awful peculiar.

J - you are definitely NOT reading too much into it. The media loves to utlize cheap psychological tricks to manipulate people into their way of thinking. It's really basic human nature to do so, but i think they take it to a more sinister and intentional level. In human nature, if you disagree with something, then you subliminally will not put it in the best light - or maybe even intentionally. But when papers and the media do it on purpose (which they undeniably do in order to subjugate their audience) they further dig the grave of journalistic integrity and impartiality.
Any time you have to ask yourself "am i reading too much into this" you probably aren't! |

Not to worry, though. Arnold's going to win in a landslide.

LOL... funny stuff J-Excel... cyphen too.
Do you really the media needs to pull any such stunts to equate Ahnold with anything? Especially Charles Taylor (whoever the heck he is =Þ ).
Honestly... anyone who wants to equate that idiot with anything need only watch a few of his movies.
And lets see the things we are sure he is associated with:
Steroids
Pot
Nazi papa
Famous Nazi war crimes buddy Kurt Waldheim
Violent films
Sexual harassment and womanizing
I really hope this thread was a joke. If not... well hell, I dunno.
and FYI I don't care if he is a republican, democrat, Jehovah’s witness or whatever. If he had any political opinions at all, I might form another opinion of him. But at the moment, it appears he is going to do his damndest to ride on the coattails of his celebrity straight into office. And that is a FARCE of immense proportion.
cyphen... a smattering of smiles throughout that post would reassure me that you were only kidding =)

Actually, Gomer, I kind of agree with cyphen.
Truth be told, there is quite a bit of psychology in how editors piece together articles. I would not suprise me one bit if what J noticed was purposeful.
The power the media holds is unnatural, IMO. But is is not random. The majority is planned, quite carefully.
IMO, anyway.
Cheers
Mick

If it is done for a purpose then what could it be? It was probably not a coincidence but what does CNN gain in race the race for California's governor.
